We know it's fun to break stuff, but Santa sure isn't going to be as good to Michael Tompert next year. The San Francisco digital imaging and CGI artist destroyed a whole slew of brand-new Apple gadgets as a statement on "our relationship with fetish, fashion, freedom, and bondage."

Broken smartphone screen with cracks and a hole in the center.

2009 iPhone 3G, shot with a Heckler & Koch handgun.

Via cnet, Tompert was inspired "after seeing his two sons fight over a game on an iPod Touch he gave them for Christmas. Tired of their squabbling and wanting to make the point that the gadget was just that--a gadget--he grabbed the device and threw it to the ground. The screen broke, liquid oozed out, and the mangled device looked surprisingly cool."

Tompert's high resolution digital prints of the demolished goods are currently on display at the WhiteSpace Gallery in Palo Alto, California.

A sheet of medication blister packaging with multiple punctured capsules.

2008 MacBook Air, also shot with a Heckler & Koch handgun.

Damaged tablet with a cracked screen and distorted display.

iPad, destroyed with a sledgehammer and a soldering torch.

Laptop with abstract blue and black screen design.

MacBook, destroyed with a sledgehammer and torch.

Damaged smartphone amidst scattered electronic components.

iPhone 4, smashed with an 8 pound sledgehammer.

Damaged wall with a large hole exposing underlying materials.

Bullet through the back of a white iPhone.

Colorful abstract arrangement of metal scraps.

A bunch of 8GB iPod Nanos, run over by a train.

The next big software update for iPhone is coming sometime in April and will include a Food section in Apple News+, an easy-to-miss new Ambient Music app, Priority Notifications thanks to Apple Intelligence, and updates to apps like Mail, Photos, Podcasts, and Safari. See what else is coming to your iPhone with the iOS 18.4 update.
